TREK ACROSS ALASKA

Aaron's 2075 mile trek across Alaska was scheduled to begin on June 10 when he flew from Anchorage to Point Hope.  The eight segments of his trek were to be defined by the drop points for his supplies.

June 18, 2008:  "After traveling for three days I decided I wasn’t comfortable traveling solo given the remoteness and the number of bears I was seeing every day.  I was having a hard time staying on schedule with having to constantly detour around bears.  So the next day I decided to head out and floated down the Kukpuk River for three days, and hiked along the coast back to Point Hope."

EXPLORING ALASKA and Beyond

After Aaron arrived back in Anchorage on June 18, he started working out a revised trip plan.  This included buying a truck and having additional outdoor gear shipped to him from storage in Denver.  Aaron's plans include some hiking and backpacking near Anchorage, a canoe trip down the Yukon River, and some backpacking in the Yukon Territory before heading back to the lower 48.
